Pokémon GO will be having a week-long Halloween event beginning October 26, 2016

Still happily onboard the Pokémon GO bandwagon despite its popularity taking a nosedive? Your unwavering loyalty won’t be going unnoticed, as Niantic will be organizing a special in-game Halloween event that kicks off tomorrow, Wednesday, October 26, 2016 and ends next Tuesday, November 1, 2016.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Halloween event without candy, right? That’s why players who catch, hatch, and transfer Pokémon will automatically be entitled to double the amount of candy that they would usually receive. This means instead of receiving three candies for each Pokémon that you catch, you will be receiving six of them.

The Pokémon Buddy system, which was introduced last month, will likewise be getting a candy boost as well. Each time your Buddy levels up, he will hand you four candies instead of one.

On top of that, there will also be a higher possibility for players to bump into ‘spooky’ Pokémon like Drowzee, Hypno, Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Zubat, and Golbat. So if you don’t already have them in your Pokédex, there’s really no better time than the coming few days to catch them all.

Pokémon GO players from around the globe will be able to participate in the week-long Halloween event. Whether it would be sufficient enough to help the game earn back its charm remains to be seen. Perhaps we could be looking at more events like these in the months to come. Christmas, maybe?
