Apple has confirmed that its developer center website was hacked. Its developer center website was down for the past couple of days and earlier, a notice said that it was undergoing maintenance. However, the extended downtime led many to suspect that there had been some sort of a security breach, and this was confirmed by Apple earlier.
“The website that was breached is not associated with any customer information,” Neumayr said. “Additionally, customer information is securely encrypted.”
Although, Apple said that the website affected was not associated with any sensitive customer information, it did not rule out the possibility that developers’ names, mailing addresses and email addresses could have been compromised.
To prevent such an occurrence from happening again, Apple is overhauling its developer systems, updating its server software and rebuilding its entire database.
