Google Alert are email/feed update of the latest relevant Google results either news, web, blogs, video or groups. Google alert will send you an email based on your choice of the query topic.
Some handy uses of Google Alerts include:
- Monitoring a news story
- Keeping current on the competitor or industry
- Getting the latest celebrity or event
- Keeping tabs on your favorite sports teams
- Generating idea from the latest update for your blog
How to create the alert on your favorite topic?
There are few ways for you to do so, I will show you 2 of them.
First:
- Login to your Google account.
- Go to your Google Account dashboard and look for Google Alert Link and click on it. The link will bring you to the Google Alert home page
- Enter the topit that you wish to keep alert by Google Alert.
- Select the type of media result you wish to get from either Web, Blogs, news, groups, video or all.
- Select how often you wish to get the alert from, either immediately, daily or weekly
- The last step is to choose your alert destination, either to your email or to Feed reader – Google Reader
Second:
- Search the topic with Google Blogsearch
- Scroll to the bottom of the result page and you will see the “Create an email alert for [your keyword]”
- Click on the link and it will bring you to the Google Alert home page with your keyword
- Select the type of media result you wish to get from either Web, Blogs, news, groups, video or all.
- Select how often you wish to get the alert from, either immediately, daily or weekly
- The last step is to choose your alert destination, either to your email or to Feed reader – Google Reader
From the Google Alert, you may know what is what topic are hot in your niche, what other are discuss and writing about. You may also get the idea on what you should write in your blog.
