Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – PIKOM recently presented the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the ICT Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the ICT industry in the country.

This prestigious award was presented by the newly-elected PIKOM Chairman, Woon Tai Hai, at their 25th Anniversary dinner at Hotel Istana, Kuala Lumpur, where Science, Technology & Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali were also present.
“Tun’s farsightedness in recognizing the pivotal role of ICT in the development of Malaysia has paid of very well. The ICT Lifetime Achievement Award is PIKOM’s way of honouring Tun for all that he has accomplished in the ICT arena,” said Woon in his speech.
During this dinner, other awards were also presented to organizations and individuals that demonstrated best ICT practices in their industry:
- Technopreneur Excellence Award – Samsul Husin of Century Software (M) Sdn Bhd
- Member Excellence Award – Maxis and N2N Connect
- CIO Excellence Award – Hood Abu Bakar of MISC
- Organization of the Year Award – Telekom Malaysia
- ICT Personality of the Year Award – Dato’ Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa of Telekom Malaysia
